Bali is known as a paradisiac destination. It is often called island of gods or the island of love. Bali is a place for inspiration, with its artistic scenery, temples, yoga retreats, beautiful beaches and landscapes. Also, it is a wonderful destination for everyone, including foodies, luxury travellers, adventurers and backpackers. Not only you will fall in love with Bali, but you would not want to leave. The number of activities to do in the island is endless and hereunder is my top 10!
1. Enjoy Amazing Views on Rice Paddies
Bali is famous for its breathtaking views on rice fields. Tegalalang and Jatiluwih Rice Terraces hardly compete against each other to offer the best greenery views. The magnitude of the landscapes will leave you speechless. Don’t forget to take your camera!
2. Watch the Sunset
Bali is also famous for its astounding and romantic sunsets. There are so many spots where you can watch the sun go down. Whether you decide to watch it from a bar sipping a cocktail or at the beach just watching the sky, the element of surprise is guaranteed. La Plancha Beach Bar & Restaurant in Seminyak is one of the best spots to be at as the sun sets on the day.
3. Be Spiritual and Visit Temples
Bali is known as the island of the gods or the island of a thousand temples. Bali means “offering”. There are about 20,000 puras (temples) in the island but four of them are really emblematic: Pura Uluwatu, Pura Tanah Lot, Pura Ulun Danu Bratan, Pura Ulun Danu Batur.
4. Have a Gastronomic Dinner
Bali is a foodies’ heaven. From local to international cuisines, easy to gastronomic restaurants, meaty to vegan options, you can find everything in Bali. The island has a high concentration of fine dining and gastronomic restaurants. Some of them have a high reputation worldwide, such as Cuca Flavor, Locavore and Mozaic Restaurant.
5. Get A LOT of Massages
Spa, Spa, Spa every day! There are so many wonderful spas in Bali. And, they are so cheap that you simply can’t miss out! Everywhere you go, get a massage. Balinese masseurs are the best and they definitely know how to do their job! Spring Spa in Seminyak and Fresh Spa in Ubud are favourites!
6. Go to a Beach Club
Bali offers an eclectic mix of beach clubs. These atmospheric all year round venues are the perfect places to spend sunny days and sunbath. In South Bali, Sundays Beach Club is probably the best with its pristine sand and sea. Not only the views are breathtaking but it offers great food, great vibes and relaxing sun-beds. In Seminyak, the W Hotel also has a magical beach club at the Woo Bar, which is for free. All you need to do is get a drink to enjoy the pool and sofa beds.
7. Stay in a Luxurious Hotel
Bali is home to some of the most luxurious hotels in the world. From fancy five stars hotels to authentic boutique hotels, options are unlimited. Obviously, you will need to pay the price to stay in a luxurious resort but the experience is totally worth it.
8. Take Part in a Cooking Class
The local cuisine in Bali is rich, diverse and has plenty of secrets. For a full immersion to Balinese culture, a cooking class is a great complement to all other cultural visits in Bali.
9. Shopping, Shopping and More Shopping!
Bali – and more specifically Seminyak – is the hit place for shopping addicts. From local markets, handicrafts, internationally renowned clothes brands to local brand designers, the options are unlimited. Plan at least one full day of shopping!
10. Relax… and Drink Bintang Beer!
You are on holidays, so take time to rest, sleep and relax. Whether it is in your hotel room, by the pool or at the beach, just chill. Go to the beach, enjoy the sea, sun… and have some local beer.
