As a “steak lady”, I love dining on my favourite dish around the world. Despite having visited many wonderful restaurants, nothing has beaten my New York City steakhouse experience at Quality Meats… the name speaks for itself!
I have had meat cuts in many parts of the world: South America, Europe, Asia, South Africa and North America. In France, they don’t really get the concept of steaks as beef cuts are never thick enough; in Argentina, meat is often overdone. While in New York City, they definitely know how to do it. After having visited the Miami location, I totally fall in love with Quality Meats NYC.
Located just a block away from Central Park in Midtown, Quality Meats offers a terrific dining experience like no other. This fancy and modern beef palace is one of the trendiest hotspots in the Big Apple. It defines the norm of what a steakhouse is known to be, thanks to its high-end, upscale, top tier food and atmosphere.
In fact, “the space succeeds in being simultaneously rustic, inviting and luxurious with rich details“. It features a warm industrial decor with butcher block wood, stainless steel and a dark, moody lightning.
Quality Meats is set over two floors and offers two dining room: the butcher room and the fireplace room. I sat at the restaurant upstairs which was really nice and a little more private than downstairs.
The varied menu focuses on a modern interpretation of classic dishes such as steak tartare, Caesar Salad or roasted bone marrow. But it also offers quality meats obviously, as well as a handful selection of seafood options and sides. Also, the wine list is extensive.
My rib eye arrived like a piece of art on a trolley. The 24oz beef cut was a magnificent piece of dry-aged perfection. The steak was cooked to perfect medium rare as I love it. The meat was succulent, tender and flavourful. It was crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside.
Overall, I really had a terrific dining experience from start to finish at Quality Meats. The price range is rather on the high end but it is totally worth it. Quality Meats is a must stop-at location for anyone staying in NYC and I can’t wait to go back!
