From London to New York with a stop over Geneva, Chez Philippe is the latest venue to add to your list of “must visit” restaurants. Owned by the very famous 2 Michelin stars Swiss Chef, Philippe Chevrier, Chez Philippe will not disappoint you.
Located in Passage des Lions, close to the famous Rue du Rhone, Chez Philippe is a beautiful restaurant & bar settled over two floors. On the ground floor, there is a trendy bar where professionals gather for an after work or evening drink. The bar has an energetic vibe and also offers fast dining options at the counter or at the bistro tables. On the first floor, there is a beautiful and trendy steakhouse where you can enjoy good meat and have a good conversation.
The restaurant area is extremely beautiful, elegant and trendy. The atmosphere is chic thanks to the beautiful lamps hanging from the ceiling, the imposing wine cellar, the tables setting and the refined cutlery. The cute bar at the heart of the restaurant and open kitchen give a lively and energetic feel to this place. It feels like being in a posh restaurant in New York or London.
We visited Chez Philippe for dinner on a Friday night. The restaurant wasn’t too busy. Once we sat down, we were given the menu and wine list. The service was kind and attentive.
The food menu was similar to what you can find in other steakhouses and the wine list was extensive. Obviously, we could not go to a steakhouse without having a soft piece of meat for dinner, together with a nice bottle of red wine. To start our meal, we had the bone marrow which was grilled to perfection and came in together with some garlic buttered bread. This dish was simply yummy.
To continue, my friend ordered the Australian beef with french beans and I ordered the Swiss beef with the baked potato. The meat was tender and nicely cooked. We also enjoyed a bottle of Malbec, together with the meat.
Overall, we had really had an amazing time at Chez Philippe and I would definitely go back. I really felt like being in the Big Apple. This is an excellent address for carnivores and for those who love beautiful places.
