Montreal Restaurant Reviews

Innovative Brunch at H4C

You don’t visit H4C to eat but to live a culinary experience. The experience of trying french cuisine revisited “à la Quebecois”!

Opened since 2013, H4C is a gourmet establishment that bonds friendly interior with haute cuisine. The restaurant is housed in a historic building located in Place Saint-Henri and, its name refers to the postal code.

In fact, H4C is set in a former post office that has been renovated with class.  The decor is elegant and contemporary, with tall windows, exposed brick walls, black leather banquettes and wooden tables. The warm tones in the dining room create a warm and intimate atmosphere.

The menu offers creative gourmet dishes inspired by the numerous culinary experiences of its talented Chef, Dany Bolduc. Dishes are representative of French cuisine while they are being made with local and seasonal products. Food is prepared with high quality ingredients and a high level of sophistication. From taste to presentation, everything is carefully and beautifully presented.

The restaurant is open for dinner and brunch during weekends. We visited on a cold Saturday noon for brunch. Undoubtedly, H4C was the perfect spot to start our weekend the right way.

We had a choice of about 10 dishes from the menu, including some sweet treats. Everything sounded delectable. We opted for a brioche with choco-hazelnut spread to start. Unfortunately, I totally missed taking a picture of this delicious viennoiserie as we all devoured it as soon as it got to our table… It looked like we were hungry 🙂

As a main dish, we all opted for the gravlax of haramasi kingfish that came on an english muffin and a bed of avocado, as well as a poached egg. The plate was extremely aromatic. The combination of each ingredient was a beautiful and harmonious experience. Not only the dish was tasty, but it also felt fresh and healthy.

We stayed for a long time chatting once we had finished our plate and no one ever asked us to leave. The staff was super friendly and accommodating. In fact, they just kept on filling our glasses with water regardless of the fact that they were officially closing.

Overall, we had a nice meal at H4C. Everything was stellar. There was a high level of execution not only in the food but also in the service and atmosphere.
