If you want to impress your guests about NYC food scene, here’s what you gotta do: Head to Le Parker Meridien, a five star hotel; Look for a neon burger sign at the end of the narrow hallway; Check what is behind the red velvet curtain… and you will find a secret burger joint.
The Burger Joint at Le Parker Meridien in Midtown is a tiny chill restaurant, evoking a 1970’s shake shack. Opened since 2003, it is a very popular place in New York , even though it may look like super secret. There are only a few tables inside the burger joint and the walls are covered in handwriting and graffitis. The ambiance is cool and casual which feels quirky with the contrast of a fancy hotel.
There often is a wait line to get in the burger joint and you may end-up standing up while eating. However, the line moves pretty fast and the table rotation is also quick. Nevertheless, it is not uncommon to sit with other people at the table and make new friends.
The menu is very simple. You have the choice between a hamburger or a cheeseburger, single or double. When you order, you can request how you want your meat to be cooked as well as the toppings that you would like to add to your burger. As soon as you order, your meal will be with you within 5 minutes.
I ordered a double cheeseburger with tomato, lettuce and onion. I also ordered french fries and a pint of beer. The cheeseburger was simple but delicious with an awesome smoky grilled flavour. The meat was juicy, greasy and cooked to perfection. The bun was soft and fresh. Also, the fries were nice and crispy.
Overall, I would highly recommend trying the Burger Joint at Le Parker Meridien if you have never been there. It is a very cool and casual place to head to for a quick classic American burger. Prices are rather on the high end, but sometimes you need to pay a little bit more when looking for exclusivity.
